Scientists, researchers,
engineers and academics are giving their best to study, explore and invent a
greener alternative to existing technology and practices. Increasing scarcity
of natural resources and fears of global warming has sparked a high response
and engagement in the field. However, the discussion is still limited to few
groups of people.
Let’s dig into the consequences
of certain groups of people taking the lead and participating in the green tech
discussion. Corporations push their so called “green” solutions to consumers. Politicians
defend their “green” credentials. Investors see the consumption trends and
invest on green alternatives for more return. And the consumers will be left
with a flawed vision of sustainability and a false notion green technology. The
environment will continue to suffer.
So what can be done to prevent
this from happening? Let’s all be aware, discuss, create awareness, question,
argue and connect with each other with a common cause.
Let’s not be divided. Saying ‘No’
to technological advancement is not a viable solution as we are already in an
information age and there is no way back. Nature and technology can co-exist,
given one doesn’t interfere with the other. If we are divided, we cannot be
successful in either pursuit. United, we can exercise our collective power with
better chance to succeed.
